Then one of your friends decides to buy it and you get a 10% commission from iTunes. That means you’ve just added an extra $200 in your bank account by being social without doing any kind of work. Your facecbook friends wont even notice that you’re getting paid unless you tell them. The power of affiliate marketing is that you don’t have to be a boring sales person.
If you put the same amount of time and effort into a more sustainable site you can build something longterm instead of having to start from scratch when the inevitable happens and your traffic and ranking drops or Amazon cut their commission rate again.
Honestly, it’s easier said than done though. Just like everything else you will need some training and correct techniques along with proven methods that work in order to succeed. That is why I wrote the Affiliate Marketing Mastery to help anyone who’s interested in starting an easy to run online business without robbing the bank.
Hey Jan, glad it made you think. As you’ve found out it’s not easy to rank #1 on Google especially when so few people will link to your product reviews. You need to tackle a specific niche with a focused target audience as a whole and build a community of like minded people around your site in order to make any significant income online sustainably and for the long term.
As search engines have become more prominent, some affiliate marketers have shifted from sending e-mail spam to creating automatically generated web pages that often contain product data feeds provided by merchants. The goal of such web pages is to manipulate the relevancy or prominence of resources indexed by a search engine, also known as spamdexing. Each page can be targeted to a different niche market through the use of specific keywords, with the result being a skewed form of search engine optimization.
Absolutely. Affiliate marketing is a viable and legitimate way to monetize your blog or website. Tens of thousands of merchants run affiliate programs and will pay you a commission for sending them sales. However, there are some scams centered around affiliate marketing. You’ll find information on how to spot affiliate scams – and avoid them – here.
I’ve been doing affiliate marketing – successfully – for well over a decade. While I earn affiliate income from this website, I’ve made the bulk of my affiliate revenue from selling real users products and services – in multiple niches – that have nothing to do with the making money online niche. I’ve been nominated as Affiliate of the Year three times in the Affiliate Summit Pinnacle Awards – taking home the award in 2016. I’ve spent the last decade+ teaching people how to find success with affiliate marketing – based on my own experiences – as well as advocating for the industry as a whole. I’m often blunt and can sometimes be controversial, but I’m also 100% bullshit free.

Amazon is an amazing company to work with :)I joined their affiliate program a few months ago. After purchasing this book, I have implemented most of the strategies and I am thrilled to say that I am generating some income, for the first time in so many months. Its a great book for omline marketters, if i can start generating income. So can you. Recommened.!
For the purposes of full disclosure, I downloaded this book while it was being offered one day, free. It’s a great book for a beginner to affiliate marketing and it would also be useful to someone who may have worked with another affiliate program but not with Amazon’s. The book lays out the basics of the Amazon program, finding a niche, building a website, loading it with Amazon affiliate products and a few ways to feature them on the site as well as some basic ways to promote them/your site. If you’re starting from “zero” or if you have a blog but you don’t know how to monetize it, this book will help.
It’s not that being an Amazon affiliate is difficult, it’s a fairly easy platform to use and get sales from. The problem is with building an “Amazon Affiliate SITE” which is different from just using the Amazon Affiliate program.
Miren, so many of us have wasted money and time (and we can never gain back time) trying many different online money making programs. I think that is why I can see right through this. And it seems many others can, as well.
Education occurs most often in “real life” by becoming involved and learning the details as time progresses. Although there are several books on the topic, some so-called “how-to” or “silver bullet” books instruct readers to manipulate holes in the Google algorithm, which can quickly become out of date,[37] or suggest strategies no longer endorsed or permitted by advertisers.[38]
Since the emergence of affiliate marketing, there has been little control over affiliate activity. Unscrupulous affiliates have used spam, false advertising, forced clicks (to get tracking cookies set on users’ computers), adware, and other methods to drive traffic to their sponsors. Although many affiliate programs have terms of service that contain rules against spam, this marketing method has historically proven to attract abuse from spammers.
Not all companies offer an affiliate program, of course, but for those that do offer affiliate programs, you can check their website for related information. When searching, be sure to check the company’s FAQ page if they have one.
Along with that, Amazon is a complete SELLING MACHINE! What I mean by that, is they have drilled their conversion rates down to the last detail. Typically I can convert traffic I send to Amazon from my affiliate sites around 12%. The reason why it works so well is that the moment people land on Amazon, they are automatically switched into “buyer mode”. Meaning, they know the only thing left for them to do is BUY. What that means, is all you have to do is get people to Amazon’s site, and they literally do the selling for you.
Yes and no. Affiliate marketing can generate passive income, but the passive side of the income usually only follows putting in a few years of hard work to generate the brand and audience you’ll need to begin generating those passive sales. I have multiple sites earning passive income, but each of those sites took a lot of front end work to build up to that point. And not every site gets to the point of passive income. Some sites require continual maintenance though the revenue they generate can also allow you to pay for that maintenance to be done vs. you needing to do it yourself.
As if all of that wasn’t enough, he also keeps improving his program so that the members would get nothing but the best. He keeps sharing his latest strategies, and host webinars. He has even won 1st position and has also finished in the top 3, in affiliate contests for sharing his strategies.
Create a blog and create tons of content related to your niche. You don’t (nor shouldnt) sell affiliate offers in every piece of content. Ideally, you want to aim for a content to promotion ration of 5:1. This is what Google is looking for. Always keep Google happy.
ASM just went LIVE and this package I’ve put together has everything I believe you need to accelerate your results. I’ve now sent hundreds of people through Amazing Selling Machine and not only have been able to build Life Mastery Nutrition to where it is today from the course, …but also helped many others make 6-figures and even 7-figures on Amazon.

Great post , I do read a lot of the Nichehacks articles and this one is so true. At the moment I am in a niche I’m passionate about and yes although I am primarily using Amazon to monetize my site, I will be branching out to use other methods very soon. It frightens me to think the plug can be pulled at any time! I intent to use other affiliate programs as well as Amazon, maybe Google Adsense, I’m not sure yet, some digital products and also to build an email list.

I agree on what you said. I think the fact that he said he was giving 10% of profits for building 2 schools in Ethiopia and the fact the he made a discount of the course the 1st week were some king of strategies to make people buy the course. I was surprised at the price because AMM is more than 10 times more expensive than his other courses. Anyway I like the free content he offers but I don’t think there’s a better place to learn online marketing than WA.
In November 1994, CDNow launched its BuyWeb program. CDNow had the idea that music-oriented websites could review or list albums on their pages that their visitors might be interested in purchasing. These websites could also offer a link that would take visitors directly to CDNow to purchase the albums. The idea for remote purchasing originally arose from conversations with music label Geffen Records in the fall of 1994. The management at Geffen wanted to sell its artists’ CD’s directly from its website but did not want to implement this capability itself. Geffen asked CDNow if it could design a program where CDNow would handle the order fulfillment. Geffen realized that CDNow could link directly from the artist on its website to Geffen’s website, bypassing the CDNow home page and going directly to an artist’s music page.[10]
Outsourced Program Management companies typically combine formal and informal training, providing much of their training through group collaboration and brainstorming. Such companies also try to send each marketing employee to the industry conference of their choice.[39]
Amazon Affiliates rewards advertising fees, or commissions, that vary depending upon the type of product. Your advertising fees can also increase after you start to refer more than 6 purchases every month.
Landing pages: A unique product sales or demo page used for the purpose of increasing sales. Most of the programs that you will be promoting have many landing pages, and you can run A/B testing to see which pages convert best for you.
